Released Crop Varieties

MAF-SoL has been testing new varieties of staple food crops since 2000. Through the program, MAF has released 18 crop varieties, all with significant to remarkable improvements to yield. The most recent release was in April 2016.

All officially released varieties have been assessed against a number of criteria, not only for improved yield and agronomic adaptability but also for their social, environmental and gender impacts. Research is ongoing into further improved varieties of kidney beans, rice and maize.
